THE DIVINE HAND OPERATES FOR OUR OWN GOOD.

Once upon a time she traded in all kinds of vegetables ranging from tomatoes and garden eggs to pepper and several others. She also traded in snails and smoked fish. But now she sells only waakye. That’s my mother.

One day during the period she traded in vegetables, she went to a market and survived an accident that killed hundreds of people. You see, I’m telling you this story because sometimes we despair when we don’t get to where we are going or don’t get what we are looking for in life. We become despondent and blame people forgetting that there is a divine hand that knows what’s good for us better than anyone else including ourselves.

My mother, on whom the thin line between life and death confronted that fateful day tried to get into a shop that almost everybody was  running to hide in. Then just as she was about to enter the decrepit wooden box of a shop, she slipped and fell into a gutter that was in front of the shop. She fell so hard that she couldn’t get up from the old chocked smelly gutter and stayed there and waited for the worst. You can well imagine what was going on in her head.

Then suddenly the truck changed course and headed for the shop. By then the driver was already dead in the vehicle. The vehicle turned the shop  and all the people it served as safe haven to into something I can’t even describe to you. The people couldn’t be identified because they were milled by the truck as if they had no bones in their bodies. Such a gory scene!

Now, pause for a moment and think! A safe haven turned into death for all the people it harboured.
Assuming my mother also got there without failure, what do you think would’ve happened to her?
Sometimes we should slow down a bit. God is always there to look out for us. We even deny Him His due sometimes yet He never abandons us. His love and protection towards us is enormous and everlasting so far as we trust in Him.

Today, I’m not telling you about  politics. I’m talking to you about the fact that we should all always strive to have faith in God. Hard work, perseverance, diligence are all good in trying to find your feet in life. But have you also devoted such energy into serving and worshipping God.

God says we should work and be successful but He also says we should be careful to not get attached to worldly things. Remember your God in all your dealings. Don’t ever sideline Him.

Ask yourself whenever you’re about doing something, ‘will God approve of this?'
