TILL WE MEET AGAIN

'It was fun meeting you

But I gotta go now

Keep in mind, you may not see me again

Or if Allah wills, we’ll meet again

Asalaam Alaikum'

 

I imagine that’s how our goodbyes with Ramadan sounds

We don’t like to think about it but it counts

Because just like any other thing in time

There is no guarantee of a next time

 

In chapter two of the Wise Quran

Allah tells us of the real deal of Ramadan

A reminder of the fear of Allah, Ramadan

Just think about it

 

The fear of Allah is of two folds;

Leaving what’s prohibited and enjoining what is required

Simply, the fear of Allah is just abiding by His legislation.

 

There is food and water but you leave them for the sake of Allah, Ramadan

Those prohibited relationships are halted for the sake of Allah, Ramadan

Abusive words are stripped of our mouths for the sake of Allah, Ramadan

See, Ramadan is when all goodness is returned to our bodies, and all evil is relegated to nothingness.

 

We can’t maintain the standard of Ramadan in our everyday life,

But we can try if we are true believers,

Desiring and willing to be God-conscious

Allah will aid us to be successful believers

 

We may or may not witness another Ramadan

So, let’s make our strides in the just-ended Ramadan count

Now and always.

THE SANITY OF THE MENTALLY CHALLENGED

Yes, I went to a wedding ceremony last week on Sunday. Now, before the trotro vehicle which would eventually stain my white dress the next day (weird) pulled out of the Darkuman Official Town circle spot, a lot of dust began to settle in it. We, the passengers looked around and found out that a mentally challenged individual was sweeping along the street. Some of the passengers began to make some unsettling comments. While others insulted the sweeping mentally challenged lady to be insane, others spoke of how nobody had sent her to sweep the roadside that early morning. After they have made all these comments and many others like them, it got me thinking. So, the mentally challenged person has realized that the place is dirty and for that matter needs cleaning but the mentally sane people don’t see that. THE ENEMY WITHIN

The Ghana Institute of Journalism launched its sixtieth anniversary today. Sadly, it rained in my area this morning so I could not make it to the launch on time. Well, I got to the campus around 3:30 pm. It was also the same time that the canopies erected for the occasion were being packed. It was like being given the black (kanzo) part of the rice you helped cook because you were not around when it was ready to be consumed. Just serve it to the goats and curse the people in your head. Satan also hears silent prayers. I stood under one of the ‘permanent’ canopies on the campus as God continued to wet the earth while He stayed in a dry heaven.
